Whilst taking photographs in Berlin I found a theme developing in my work. I was drawn towards these industrial air conditioning units, chimneys, windows, lights, shapes. The city was alive and breathing. Heating and cooling, creating false elements, indoors, outdoors.
Through a process of printing and scanning the photographs on different printers, with different quality settings I achieved the aesthetic I was looking for. The images were then curated and placed into an indesign document. The position of the images within the book was also important to me. I didn’t want everything to be centered, they had to be engaging and reflect the shapes created in some photographs. Once the composition was finalised I printed the book onto newsprint and bound it with black cotton.
